When I write, I feel like I did in the weeks leading up to the annual elementary school play. Working on a book evokes the same anticipation as rehearsing my lines. It's hard work but there is a set, tangible goal. I'm getting pumped for that opening night feeling again, knowing people have come to watch me giving my heart and soul to my part.

My debut book-a memoir-is a compelling history of my brother Michael, a special needs child growing up in the sixties and seventies. In those days, there were no criteria for a diagnosis of autism and no established programs or methods to teach a hearing impaired,non-verbal neurodivergent boy. Compassion and love guided my pen.
