My journey with writing started two years ago. I had always loved to read as a child and well into adulthood, but found myself wanting to tell stories that I had made up so I started to write. In the beginning I was absolutely horrible. I didn’t remember my high school grammar lessons by any means and stupidly sent short stories out to some pretty famous publishers…it turned out to be the best thing I could’ve done. A lot of the publishers sent me back a standard form letter rejection but there was one who I owe a great deal of gratitude to, she sent me back a rejection with a hand written note and it said, “Did you learn about proper paragraphs in school? If not, go back and learn about them.” I took her advice and never looked back. I took as many free classes as I could, scoured the web for free tips and even took a writing course through correspondence. It really improved my writing and I’ve never looked back. I’m constantly learning and my first book, a children’s picture book, will be published this year! My advice to you is to never give up and take advice from the professionals…you never know where you’ll end up if you don’t quit.
